A DIFFERENT VIEW

I've struggled for a long time to define what kind of artist I am, sometimes I've even struggled to understand the kind of person I am and while I have not reached the ultimate goal of understanding I think that I'm a step or two closer!

I am a completely self taught painter, I have a strong ties to the ocean, My grandfather was a fisherman as was my husband. My families roots lie in the small fishing town of Canso,

 

There are many things that define me and the work that I love so much but what stands out the most is that sometimes its just different. 

 

I get excited about the boat in the water but I'm more excited about looking at the boat from the back or from the side and see what makes it different then any other boat in the water.  I want to find the interesting, the beautiful, the old, even the ugly and I want you to look at it the way that I do.  The rich colour, the interesting shape, the story it tells. 

 

There are many Maritime painters out there that are artistic, talented and creative and that's great but I don't want to emulate them I don't want to paint like them I want to be different!
